Question: What is used to make Cowichan
sweaters?
Answer: The soft, warm wool used in knitting Genuine
Cowichan Sweaters comes from sheep raised on Vancouver Island.
Fleece from breeds such as Dorset, Hampshire and Suffolk provide
all the natural colors used in authentic Cowichan sweaters, from a
creamy white, through brown to black. The wool is lightweight and
resilient, producing a garment that is beautiful and functional.
The Cowichan Sweater is knit in the round using nine needles,
which creates a 'seamless' finish to the product.
