Things To Do

Cowichan River |
Our unsurpassed recreational environment offers
superb fishing, year round golfing, tennis, kayaking, hiking, bird
watching,
cricket, and in the winter months, close proximity to major ski
resorts.
The Cowichan Community Centre, which has the world's
largest hockey stick on display, offers an array of indoor services.
Theatre, dance, music and other entertainment are scheduled weekly.
Shopping in Duncan offers an interesting diversion
to visitors. Duncan has a wide variety of modern and traditional
shops. The city is one square mile of land, jam-packed with
interesting shops and services. The many small, independent stores
have an outstanding collection of china, woolens, fine linens,
antiques, confections, books and First Nations' art.
Duncan has a number of parks: the Kinsmen Children's
Park with a children's playground, tennis courts and lawn bowling at
the end of First Street, and Wharncliff Park, a fine natural walking
trail along the Cowichan River. Just south of Duncan there is
a 30 kilometre trail that follows the Cowichan Heritage River.
You can spend the day hiking the whole trail or take any of a number
of shorter hikes.
